Pupils of Penji Primary School in Nebbi district are studying under trees after heavy winds destroyed their classrooms on Friday.
The incident happened in the afternoon while pupils were still in class, prompting the school authorities to call for immediate help.
According to the headmaster, Melki Opar, the strong winds blew off the roof but no one was injured.
Opar now says there is need for urgent response because it has affected about 100 pupils, creating a shortage of classrooms.
The LC3 Chairman for Ndhew Sub-county, Bosco Okwai, urged the education department to respond to the disaster as urgency.
This is the second school in the Sub-county to be affected after Owilo primary was destroyed by wind last year.
Okwai therefore urges the school authorities to set aside a separate budget that catered for tree planting campaign to protect the schools from being destroyed by winds.
