The ministry of health is set to commission study on Non Communicable Diseases next week.
The survey is intended to collect data on people affected by Non communicable diseases in Uganda.
The head of the non-communicable diseases department Dr. Gerald Mutungi says a total of 5,000 samples are targeted and funding for the exercise has already been mobilized.
Non Communicable Diseases include hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, mental illness and cancers among others.
According to the World Health Organisation, the diseases represent 46% of the global disease burden and cause an estimated 35 million deaths each year.
