As the tourism sector slowly continues to pick up in terms of attracting the number of tourists after being hit by the effects of COVID-19, the government says it plans to upgrade key up- country airstrips to promote the sector.
According to the General Manager of regional airports at the Civil Aviation Authority Samuel Woneka, upgrading the airstrips to meet the international standards will help to promote the country’s tourism sector because air transport is categorized as the safest mode of transport ever.
Woneka made the remarks while officiating at the launch of the South African regional Airline, Air link’s Johannesburg –Entebbe flights at Entebbe international airport.
He says this will help the government to sign more bilateral trade agreements which in the process boost the country’s economic development.
