The German government has asked policymakers in Uganda to promote the current strategies which the government has put in place to encourage the community to adopt and use renewable energy as a measure to mitigate the challenges of climate change.

The country director for GIZ to Uganda James Macbeth Forbes says there is no way the country will address the challenges of climate change without implementing the policies.

James Macbeth made the remarks while officiating at the official launch of the Kampala Masaka e-mobility corridor in Mpigi town. The launched e- mobility is promoting the use of electric motorcycles along the Kampala- Masaka highway.

He says it’s time to act, by encouraging the community to embrace renewable energy as an opportunity.

The project is being promoted by the Ministry of Energy and mineral development with support from the GIZ.

He says the promotion of electric mobility is aimed at helping the country to increase the adoption and use of clean energy and promoting the utilization of energy-efficient practices.
