Government has declared a three-day national mourning for the 22 people who died in the May 25th Kiryadongo accident involving a Gaaga bus, a tractor and lorry in Nanda Village.
According to a statement issued this afternoon the Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda, the three days of mourning start today, Sunday, 27th May 2018.
Rugunda says this is a directive from President Yoweri Museveni and as such all flags on public buildings will fly at half-mast for the three days.
He says government will contribute Shs 5M per victim to the families of the deceased and Shs 3M for each person nursing injuries in various health facilities.
Rugunda now advises traffic police to step up vigilance on the roads and encourages passengers to prevail over errant drivers.
