The government has allocated Shs 65 billion for the development of urban centers’ transport systems in the country.
Works minister General Katumba Wamala says under this new allocation, construction works will be undertaken on major urban centers’ transport infrastructure.
He says there will be the acquisition of 1,897.988 hectares for the right of way of national roads, rehabilitation of 500km of district roads, and 800km of community roads.
General Wamala noted that they will undertake feasibility studies and detailed engineering designs of 24 road projects totaling 1,495km and complete up to 75 percent of physical works at Bukasa port.
He says government will conclude the construction and rehabilitation of the remaining 20 percent of works at Entebbe international airport and 23 percent of the development of the Kabaale international airport.
