The government is considering an amendment to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Act 1998 to include special clauses that compel investors to only start-up projects that comply with the country’s statistical data.

The executive director of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, Chris Mukiza says many times investors start-up business projects without analysing statistical data, such as the number of people to benefit from the project among others.

He says when the amendment of the Act is done the government will not approve such projects that do not comply with the statistics, adding that poor use of statistics affects the country’s economic development.
