The government says it needs three weeks to come up with a detailed explanation the wave of killings targeting muslim clerics.

This follows numerous demands by some opposition politicians, who believe they are be potential targets,.

Ruth Nankabirwa, the acting Leader of Government Business, has told parliament that is saddening to lose people, irrespective of whether they are Muslims or not.

She said that in three weeks, the minister for Internal Affairs would have prepared “a comprehensive statement”.

The Member of Parliament of Butambala, Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, Geoffrey Ekanya and Cecilia Ogwal had just minutes earlier asked the government to explain the killings, especially of Muslim clerics, killings that have shocked the whole country.

Suspects who are yet to be brought to book have shot at least ten clerics over the last two years.
