The Internal Affairs minister, General Aronda Nyakayirima has warned members of the public against violence ahead of the 2016 general elections.
General Aronda made the warning while giving his speech during the launch of issuance of the national identity cards in Masaka region at liberation square in Masaka town.
Gen. Nyakayirima says that as the general elections draws nearer people should be cautious about their conduct because the security agencies are or alert to avert any form of violence.
He says that security authorities are going to ensure that the country remains stable even in elections period asking people to be calm.
The Minister for Tourism, Hon. Maria Mutagamba, who represented the guest, the Vice president, Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi said that the national identity card will work as address for many people that had no personal addresses.
She applauded the Internal Affairs Ministry for successfully completing the work of getting Ugandans identity adding that it will be beneficial in almost all sectors including health and tourism since people will now be free to move everywhere since they can be identified.
Hon Mutagamba however, raised concern over the issue of faking passports saying that many Ugandan passports are questionable since they are forged challenging the line ministry to do anything possible to avert this problem.
