After walking for close to 300 kilometers, over 1000-foot pilgrims from the Fort Portal diocese have reached Kampala.
The group was flagged off on May 23rd, 2022 at Virika cathedral by Bishop Robert Muhirwa.
The group which has spent nine days walking along the Kampala-Mubende highway have this morning stopped at Busega sub parish where they are taking a rest.
At around noon, the group will resume walking and stop at Naalya where they will be welcomed by the Batooro community living in Kampala.
It’s at this point that they will make the last lap as they make a grand entry to the Namugongo Catholic shrine with a band leading the way.
Fort Portal diocese is leading this year’s Martyrs day celebrations on the Catholic side for the first time after 27 years.
This year’s walking pilgrims from Fort Portal to Namugongo were joined by Christians from Kasese, two pilgrims from DR Congo, and while at Mityana they were joined by pilgrims by the Kiyinda-Mityana diocese.
