Former National Forestry Authority boss Damien Akankwasa has been convicted and handed a two-year jail term for abuse of office.
The Anti-Corruption Court grade One Magistrate Sussane Okeny said the evidence adduced by prosecution proved that Akankwasa abused his authority when he disposed of 10,000 eucalyptus poles belonging to Wood Company Uganda Ltd at Sh10,000 each instead of the set price of Sh20,000.
Court also found out that Akankwasa ignored the advice of the director tree plantation Paul Drici that the price was not competitive.
Akankwasa committed the offence on May 23rd 2008 while still the NFA boss.
