Former Inspector General of police Kale Kayihura has failed to show up before the Court Martial where he was expected to appear alongside his 7 junior police officers to jointly answer to charges of failure to protect war materials and repatriation of Rwandese Refugees.
Kayihura case was stood over until 5:30 pm when the court’s chairman Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti adjourned the sessions to next week.
Maj. Raphael Mugisha said afresh date to mention the case will be communicated to Gen Kayihura and his co-suspects.
Kayihura who is out on bail and co-accused are charged with offenses of unlawfully issuing guns to unauthorised persons and the kidnap of Rwandese Refugees.
Prosecution states that Kayihura and co-suspects failed to protect war materials by unlawfully allowing the issuance of guns to the jailed Boda -Boda 2010 leader Abudallah Kitatta.
The police officers are further said to have unlawfully aided their junior officers to kidnap and illegally repatriate 3 Rwandan Refugees ; Joel Mutabazi , Jackson Kalemera and Innocent Kalisa between the years 2012 and 2018.
