The opposition Forum for Democratic Change has warned foreign investors who allegedly collude government to swindle the country’s resources.
According to the spokesperson of FDC, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the party is interested in the deals that government offers to the Italian Investor Enrica Pinetti.
He said Pinette has been given hefty contracts directly or on orders of the president in 2018 and was given freely a public land to construct a super-specialized hospital at Lubowa on Entebbe Road in 48 months which she will in return sell to Uganda.
In addition, the government-guaranteed $350 million (Shs 1.2 trillion) which Pinetti was supposed to borrow to finance the construction of the hospital.
Ssemujju said last year government paid Shs 340 billion to Pinetti and the government has included another additional Shs 319 billion in next year’s budget which constitutes half of the total project value yet there’s not much work done on the ground.
He insisted that all this money will be recovered once the ruling government is not in power and also arrests of individual so-called investors will be made for defrauding Ugandans.
