Senior presidential advisor on epidemics Dr. Monica Musenero has revealed that most of the first cases of Ebola die.

Her remarks comes at a time the number of deaths attributable to the viral disease has since shoot up to 21.

The latest update from the Ministry of Health released last evening shows that the cumulative cases of Ebola in the country stand at 34 with 16 confirmed and 18 probable.

Speaking to KFM’s VPN show over the weekend, Dr. Musenero who has previously played leading roles in the control of Ebola epidemics in Uganda, Dr. Congo and Sierra Leone explained that many of the first cases die because many of them are identified late.

Dr. Musenero however says as there is no treatment that kills the virus in the body, the good news is that there is supportive treatment that helps the body to fight the disease for cases identified early.

“Most of the first Ebola cases in the system die because they report late, we do not have treatment which kills the virus in the body yet, there are some trial ones but we do not have but, we have treatment which supports the body to kill the disease,” said Dr. Musenero.
