The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer Dr. Kizza Besigye has today beaten police curfew and forcefully addressed rallies and opened a party office in Tororo district even after the police had issued banned.
Early in the morning the Regional Police Commander for Bukedi region Andrew Kaggwa issued the ban on all the FDC activities on grounds that they had not sought permission to hold any public rally in the district as required by the public order management law.
Consequently, the police was deployed to block all the major roads leading into Tororo town.
Dr. Besigye was designated to address rallies in Malaba town and Tororo town but the police commanded by Sam Omara blocked him from
proceeding with the planned program but only allowed him to open the party office.
It is in the course of opening the office that Besigye managed to address the supporters who had gathered at Tororo tax park.
Besigye then managed to sneak into the district after he moved in the convoy led by the leader of opposition Wafula Ogutu.
One of Besigye Aides Francis Mwijukye says today’s activities were an eye opener to the police, insisting that even with their intimidation FDC will go on with its mobilization activities.
