The Forum for Democratic Change has finally declared its position on electoral reforms.
FDC presidential flag bearer Dr. Kiiza Besigye says they will not boycott the forthcoming elections but will continue demanding for reforms.
Addressing the media at the party headquarters this morning, Besigye said all they want is to have free and fair elections.
Speaking at the same news conference, the FDC national chairman Wasswa Biriggwa said their proposal for dialogue on the proposed electoral reforms stands and they await a response from govt.
The party has been divided on the matter with the current president Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu pushing for elections with or without reforms, while the FDC flag bearer says there should be no elections without reforms.
The opposition and some sections of the civil society have been pushing for a number of constitutional and electoral reforms, but the Constitutional Amendments Bill 2015 was recently passed without consideration of any of their proposals.
Some of the proposed amendments include the disbandment and reconstitution of the current electoral commission.
They also demand that the electoral process be demilitarized.
