The FDC Party President Col. Kizza Besigye has been arrested and released by the police as attempted to participate to participate in the Walk to Work protests.

Besigye was arrested close to Kasangati town, after he had walked for about a kilo metre from his home.

The police took him to Kasangati Police station where he was held briefly before being bundled into a police van and deposited at his home gate.

The opposition Activists for Change launched the second phase of their walk to work protests over the increasing cost of living in the country yesterday.

The police say over 70 people were arrested yesterday in connection to the week long protests which they say are illegal.

However, the A4C insists that they will go ahead with the protests in defiance of police directive against the same.
