The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has asked the government not to militarise Ebola response and avoid treating the suspected Ebola patients like it was witnessed in the first days of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Addressing journalists at their offices in Najjanankumbi yesterday, the party spokesperson, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda said that the population and the government should be compassionate to the victims and their families and desist from victimizing them.
He says he has seen already the Minister of Health herself in Mubende addressing meetings together with the military, saying the government should not militarise Ebola because it can be very frightening.
According to him, many people during Covid-19 used to hide their patients within their family, over fear of being manhandled by policemen carrying guns and victimisation from the community members, saying the same should not be instilled among the population on Ebola response.
The party also called for free treatment of Ebola patients admitted in both private and government hospitals.
