By Mudangha Kilyanga:

Police in Kibuku District have arrested a 27-year old man for allegedly defiling his two-year old daughter.

Bukedi region police spokesperson Sowali Kamulya is a peasant farmer from Tirinyi Zone, Tirinyi sub-county.

The suspect together with his wife identified as Halima Nabatanzi reportedly went out for an evening drinking spree but the husband sneaked and went back home.

Kamulya says the suspect took the advantage of the absence of the victim’s mother and defiled his biological child.

Meanwhile a medical examination conducted on the minor indicates that her private parts were shuttered and upon interrogation by the police, the suspect who looked composed, admitted to having defiled his daughter.

Statistics from Police have shown that at least 3, 00 girls were defiled in a period between Jan-March in Bukedi sub-region, a figure that the law enforcement agencies describe as unacceptably high.
