The European Union has given a shillings 530 billion fund to Micro small and medium enterprises in the country as its commitment to fostering an inclusive green economy in Uganda.
Giving a key note address at the SEED national dialogue forum in Kampala, the head of cooperation at the EU Cedric Merel said the fund will help advance and also empower them in a number of value chains including solid waste management and renewable energy production among others.
Merel added that another shillings 135 billion is being proposed to specifically provide SME’s with better access to finance and knowledge through credit facility and technical support.
The Dialogue was among other things seeking to create awareness and exchange ideas about how SME’s can advance an inclusive green economy.
