The Electoral Commission has been implored to begin voter education for the next cycle of elections immediately after releasing the electoral road map.
Speaking at the release of a post-election campaign financing report by the Alliance for Finance Monitoring in Kampala this morning, John Ssenkumba, a researcher from the Center for Basic Research, noted that the number of spoilt votes reveals that civic education in 2021 polls was inadequate.
He added that even the number of voters who deliberately refused to vote was high because many people lacked confidence in the electoral body to organize a free and fair election.
Ssenkumba has thus urged the commission to work hard to win back the voters’ confidence by carrying out adequate and timely voter education.
