The health ministry is today set to discharge some of the 65 health workers who were recently quarantined after being exposed to the Ebola Sudan strain virus. This is confirmed by health minister Dr. Jane Aceng.
The current Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) has so far claimed the lives of four health workers including a Tanzanian trainee doctor.
Meanwhile, an Ebola patient who was discharged yesterday after completing treatment has chosen to stay back and take care of her infected 2-year-old child.
According to Dr. Aceng, the child’s mother has opted to remain at Madudu Ebola treatment unit after undergoing counseling. Her husband too is still receiving treatment at the facility.
The total number of Ebola patients who have recovered from Mubende hospital stands at 8 after four more were discharged yesterday.
This comes as the country continues to register an increased number of Ebola infections and deaths, with confirmed cases standing at 44 and 10 deaths since the outbreak was declared last month.
