The East African Legislative Assembly has expressed concern about the ongoing impasse over a sugar deal between Uganda and Kenya.
This comes as some politicians attempt to block a deal signed between Kenya’s president Uhuru Kenyatta and President Yoweri Museveni to allow Uganda export Sugar to Kenya.
Now one of Uganda’s representatives to the assembly Bernard Mulengani says the matter is serious and goes against the region’s integration agenda.
He says they may soon have to set up a committee to specifically discuss the matter.
Addressing the assembly last week, president Museveni said there was no need for mediation over allowing Ugandan products in Kenya and other East Africa countries.
