A day after the Director of Public Prosecution, Mike Chibita rooted for the death penalty for drug traffickers, some MPs have rejected this.
Chibita told the media yesterday that persons who deal in drug peddling deserve to be hanged.
However, Ayivu County MP, Bernard Atiku says the DPP’s statements could instead pre-determine cases where persons have been framed or used as conduits.
Atiku adds that the discretion of judgment should be left to the judges, based on evidence.
Uganda has been named as one of the countries used as conduits for drug traffickers.
