The ICT and national guidance minister Chris Baryomunsi has asked members of parliament not to mix the burial of the late Bank of Uganda governor Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile with politics.
He made the call during a special sitting to honor the late governor held this morning at parliament.
A motion to pay tribute to honor the late governor was moved by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and supported by the Leader of opposition Mathias Mpuuga.
However, in supporting the motion, Mpuuga criticized the late governor for failing to manage well the resources of the economy especially during elections.
However, Baryomunsi says the failures of the deceased in managing the economy should be discussed in another special session and not during his last funeral rites.
Relatedly, Bukooli central MP Solomon moved an amendment to the motion that was adopted asking the government to let the family of the deceased governor retain their home in Kololo which is government property.
Baryomunsi has meanwhile revealed that the deceased governor will be buried on Sunday and not Monday as earlier communicated.
He says after the scientific state funeral service to be held tomorrow at Kololo ceremonial grounds, the body of Mutebile will be airlifted to Kabale on Saturday before his burial on Sunday at Kijuguta village.
