Members of Parliament on the Health committee want government to increase funding towards expansion of district hospitals.

During a tour of the hospitals in Western Uganda, the legislators found that congestion still plagues the hospitals, with many wards lacking adequate beds for patients.

Mbarara Municipality MP, Dr. Medard Bitekyerezo says it is unacceptable to have hospitals in such a state, since it contributes more to death of patients.

He says the 2014/2015 budget towards the health sector needs to be improved urgently so that communities are able to access quality medical care.
