Researchers are warning that the government needs to take steps to sensitise the public on the dangers of depression and how to deal with such mental health issues.
A leading Reseacher with John Paul II Justice and Peace Centre Kamilla Krygier says the growing social and economic pressures brought on by the demands of globalization are pushing many people on the edge, leading to rising cases of depression.
She cites challenges like poverty and unemployment as some of the driving forces for depression in Uganda.
She says the public should be educated on warning signs to help in early detection of the disease.
