Hearing of an appeal filed by death row convict Thomas Nkulungira alias Tonku is expected to kick off today.
The hearing was meant to begin on April 14th but Tonku’s lawyer Benson Tusasirwe was not ready to proceed on that date.
Tonku is to appear before three Court of Appeal Justices Augustine Nshiimye, Eldard Mwangusya and Kenneth Kakuru.
Nkulungira was in January 2011 found guilty by High Court judge Albert Rugadya Atwooki of murdering his girlfriend Brenda Karamuzi before dumping her body in a septic tank in Muyenga, a Kampala suburb.
But being dissatisfied with both the conviction and death sentence, Nkurungira appealed saying the sentence was too harsh.
