ID registration at a registration center

The issuance of National IDs may have been launched early this week but it has not started in many parts of Kampala.

In several parishes visited by KFM today, most of the people who had turned up to pick their cards were sent away.

These include Mengo parish 1 and 2, as well as Kisenyi Public.

One of the enrollment officers identified as Peter Angumizamu says they have been told to wait until next week when the cards will be delivered to the parishes.

Angumizamu says that for any person to receive an ID, they will be required to produce the registration form, with their names appearing on the list displayed at the office.

However the spokesperson in charge of the ID project, Paul Bukenya says that issuance kicked off in only the central division and will roll out to other divisions next week.

President Museveni launched the issuance of the IDs on Tuesday.
