Two cultural leaders from Businga bwa Rwenzuru have been arrested by police in connection with the weekend attacks in Bundibugyo.
The duo is the minister for veterans Misali Mukwenda and Deputy Prime Minister Jeremiah Mutoro, bringing the number of arrests to 82.
This has been revealed by the police spokesperson Fred Enanga at an ongoing news conference held in Kampala.
According to the UPDF spokesperson for Rwenzori region, Lt Ninsiima Rwemijuma, over 60 deaths were confirmed yesterday in separate attacks in Kasese and Bundibujo districts.
Meanwhile a combined force of police and UPDF continues to comb the villages for any possible leads to the cause of the attacks. The combined force is led by Police Chief Gen. Kale Kayihura and Special Forces Commander Muhoozi Kainerugaba among other top security officers.
