By Benjamin Jumbe

CSOs working in the oil sector have reacted to President Museveni’s remarks pinning them for decampaigning development.

Speaking at the signing of the Final Investment Decision at Kololo the President attacked the CSOs saying many of the organisations peddle falsehoods for their own selfish interests.

He said the government and the oil companies have nothing to hide, urging district and Local government authorities in the oil areas not to stop NGOs seeking to inspect whatever oil project they wish so as to avoid problems.

Speaking to KFM, the deputy executive director of the Environment Shield Robert Turyakira said the president is entitled to his personal opinion about the NGO’s work but dismisses accusations that these organisations are not anti-development but are promoting sustainable development which is eco-friendly.
