Crime preventers arrested over impersonation.

Police in Luuka district are holding two crime preventers over alleged impersonation.

The suspects have been identified as Musa Waiswa and  Hamis Mwaita both crime preventers attached to Irongo police post in Luuka district.

The duo who were  suspended  on December 15 by the Luuka DPC Vincent Elama  over accusations of extortion  of money from the public were arrested on Friday as they again posed as police officers to extort money from some people  who wanted to file complaints about theft of their property.

The suspects who were in police uniform were targeting the complainants at Irongo police where they called themselves  OC Moses Mukuba and CIID Carol Yeko.

The Luuka CIID Ms Sophie Nakijoba said the suspects were unfortunate that the police officers were impersonating arrived at office the complainants reported tem.

‘’What has happened is that these suspects wanted to get money fromm the complainants unfortunately the people they were impersonating arrived at that very time and they arrested them’ ’she said.

She said the suspects will be charged with impersonation and defying of DPC’s orders of suspension.
