A crime preventer attached to the Kampala Central Police Station has been charged with the murder of a business woman, Donah Betty Katushabe.

Paul Tasingika is alleged to have connived with the owner of pine car bond, Muhammad Ssebufu and three others to murder Katushabe and rob her mobile phone worth 300,000 shillings last month.

Tasingika just like his four co-accused persons was also not allowed to plead to the charges as they are only triable  by the High Court.

He however asked court to order prison authorities remand him in a separate room from his co-accused for fear of his life.

Chief magistrate, Flavia Nabakooza granted his wish and prison authorities also undertook to safeguard him.

Prosecution says Ssebufu, Tasingika, Godfrey kayiza, Phillip Mirambe and Stephen Lwanga  by the use of sticks and a panga beat and sliced Katushabe to death for failure to clear a nine million shillings debt which was balance for a car that she had  bought from Ssebufu.

However, State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya told court that police wound up its inquiries into the case but he could not publicly announce to court when he will commit the accused to High Court to stand trial for fear to sabotage the move.

The accused will re-appear in court on the 26th of this Month.
