The Federation of Uganda Football Association, FUFA has asked the current head coach Jonathan Mckinstry to step aside from his role for a month after disappointing AFCON Qualifiers results.
In a statement released last evening, the FUFA Executive Committee has suspended McKinstry ahead of two must-win matches and will not manage and coach the team for the period from 2nd- 31st March.
Uganda Cranes is set to play Malawi and Burkina Faso on 24th and 29th March respectively.
In the last two AFCON Qualifier matches, Uganda struggled to beat South Sudan 1-0 at home and lost 0-1 in the return leg.
In the meantime Assistant Coaches Abdallah Mubiru, Livingstone Mbabazi, and goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba will take charge of the team during this period while the rest of the technical team remains unchanged.
FUFA says it will use the period to assess and monitor the team’s performance.
