High Court is today expected to decide on whether or not to release on bail Mathew Kanyamunyu who is charged with the murder of Kenneth Akena a social worker at Lugogo Kampala- Jinja High way in 2016.
The decision is to be made by Justice Yasin Nyanzi at 2; 30pm.
Kanyamunyu through his lawyer Evans Ochieng asked court to release him on bail because there is congestion in Luzira prison where he is currently detained and that his company Quantaum Express Logistic where he is the general manager since 2012 is suffering due to his absentia.
Kanyamunyu claims to be a law abiding citizen with no prior criminal records and that he will not interfere with witnesses and police investigations since they are complete and committed to High court for trial.
Kanyamunyu also wants justice Nyanzi to put into consideration that his two co accused including his brother Joseph Kanyamunyu and fiancée Cynthia Munwangari who were granted bail have respected the bail conditions set by not trying to flee the country.
Kanyamunyu also claims to have a fixed place of abode at Butabika Hospital zone in Nakawa division, bail being his constitutional right and the presumption of innocence until proved guilty.
Prosecution states that Kanyamunyu on the 12th of November 2016 at Lugogo along Jinja High way in Kampala with malice afore thought shot at Kenneth Akena who later died from Norvik hospital in Kampala.
