Dr. Kizza Besigye did not appear before Buganda Road Court on Tuesday, citing indisposition.
In a letter submitted by the officer in charge of Upper Prison, where Besigye is being held, the magistrate was informed of his inability to attend.
Consequently, Trial Magistrate Winnie Nankya postponed the hearing of the incitement to violence case against Besigye.
The court issued a production warrant, directing prison authorities to present Besigye on Friday, February 14, to determine the reasons for his absence.
Besigye and activist Samuel Lubega Mukaaku are charged with inciting violence during the June 2022 Kampala protests against high commodity prices.
The prosecution alleges that Besigye and Mukaaku used a loudspeaker to urge Ugandans to overthrow the government, an act deemed as inciting violence.
