Court for water thieves finally created

admin | November 6, 2015

The Judiciary has created a special magistrate’s court at the Buganda road Court to try all culprits caught illegally consuming utility services such as water and electricity.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Justice Yorokamu Bamwine said the special court is not a new court but a dedicated court to handle crimes involving illegal consumption of utility services.

He said Water is crucial for human existence and it should be given special attention and so is electricity.

Dr. Silver Mugisha the NWSC managing director noted that much as the corporation has tried to extend safe and clean piped water to several towns, the vice is entrenched among Ugandans and it requires behavior change.
