The High Court in Nakawa has temporarily blocked Kyambogo University from advertising and receiving applications to fill the post of Vice chancellor.
The order comes after former Kyambogo University Vice-chancellor Prof. Isaiah Omolo Ndiege dragged the university council to Court challenging the council decision to fill his former post.
The Nakawa High Court Judge Elizabeth Nahanmya has also blocked the university from carrying out any interviews that will result in the recruitment of any person to fill the post since Ndiege claims that he is still eligible for re-appointment.
Ndiege whose contract expired last year in December had applied for its renewal but his application was rejected by the university council, prompting him that to challenge the decision.
He contends that the law allows him to hold the post for a second term in five years and that the ad-hoc committee set up to review his work also commended his leadership.
The judge has ruled that the interim order is to run until February 9th 2015 when his main application will be heard before the same court.
