Ministry of trade has promised to expedite the process of passing the Anti-Counterfeit Bill 2015 that is currently before parliament.
Speaking during the launch of Anti counterfeit network, a network that seeks to complement government in fight counterfeit, the state minister for trade Hon Michael Werikhe said that though this bill has overstayed in parliament, plan are underway to see it passed this year .
He however said that with or without the bill, the task of fighting counterfeit requires multi-sectoral approach with private sector in the forefront.
The legal director Anti-counterfeit network Africa Fred Muwema said that they are to put much emphasis on tickling concerned organizations to fight such goods , offering legal redress as well as creating awareness among consumers.
