“We at the Nation Media Group are deeply saddened by the passing of His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini Aga Khan IV, the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and the esteemed Founder and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network. On behalf of the Board of Directors, the Management, and the dedicated staff of the Nation Media Group, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of His Highness, the entire Ismaili community as well as to all the AKDN institutions around the world, for the monumental loss of an extraordinary leader, a distinguished statesman, and a steadfast champion of peace and human advancement.
His Highness was not merely a visionary; he was a transformative force whose remarkable contributions impacted the lives of billions worldwide. Through his unwavering dedication to uplifting humanity — regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, or religion — he ignited a flame of inspiration in countless individuals and organisations, urging them to pursue excellence and commit themselves to the service of others.
At the height of the independence struggle in Kenya and throughout East Africa, His Highness founded the Nation Media Group, creating an essential platform for African voices that had long been silenced by colonial narratives. In doing so, he revolutionised the information and media landscape, empowering millions with access to truthful, accurate, reliable, and impactful journalism that continues to uphold the pillars of democracy in our region. As we honour his extraordinary life and immense contributions, we at NMG reaffirm our unwavering commitment to positively shaping society – an ideal that is deeply woven into the very fabric of our organisation, inspired by the values and vision of His Highness. May His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV rest in eternal peace, and may his enduring legacy continue to inspire and guide us in our pursuit of a better world.”
