The FDC Party President Col. Kizza Besigye has been released by the police without any charges preferred.

Besigye was arrested this morning at Nangabo road, just near his home in Kasangati from where he was walking.

He was then held at Kasangati Police station for hours under preventive arrest.

The deputy Head of Operations Kampala Metropolitan North Samuel Omala, said they were complying with court orders, keeping away from Besigye’s home and detaining him at the police station.

Col. Besigye was however released at 5.00pm without any charges preferred.

He was welcomed by a crowd of people that had waited at the police station and escorted him home.

The FDC leader has vowed to continue walking to work even after the walk to work protests have ended, despite a warning the police against the same.

The police however insists that he will not be allowed to angage in any activities that could result into chaos.
