City Lawyer Jackline Namazzi has faulted police for keeping her client in custody for more than the constitutionally stipulated period of 48 hours.

Namazzi says Ben Zziwa Kafuuma was arrested by police on 10th April 2017 as one of the key suspects in the murder of city businessman Wilberforce Wamala in 2012 but has never been produced before any court of law.

She tells KFM that on May 2nd 2017 the Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court ordered for the immediate and unconditional release of Kafuuma, a former driver to late Wamala but police defied the said order.

When contacted for a comment on the allegation, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Emiliano Kayima instead referred KFM to the CIID spokesperson Vincent Ssekate who also referred us back to Kayima.
