Buganda Road Court has charged and remanded to Luzira prison a Chinese national for allegedly selling sub-standard second hand under wear.
35 year old Zhang Keliang was arrested on 27th/April 2017 from his shop at Kafumbe Mukasa road with 17 bales of clothes containing sub-standard bras and other under garments.
Zhang was arrested after inspection of Chinese shops carried out by Uganda National Bureau of Standard officials.
He has appeared before grade one magistrate Marion Mangeni and pleaded not guilty to 2 counts of selling and being in possession of second hand clothes which are not in conformity with the code of practice for inspection and acceptance criteria for used textile products.
He returns to court in Monday next week for bail application hearing.
