Alvaro Morata has confirmed that Chelsea showed plenty of interest in fighting for his signature this summer.
The 23-year-old revealed that Chelsea made an offer, of ‘roughly’ €70m (£60m) for him this summer, which would have made him the most expensive Spanish player ever.
The Spanish forward was heavily linked with a move to London, with both Chelsea and Arsenal interested.
However, Morata re-signed for Real Madrid from Juventus in a £23m move and decided that he wanted to fight for his place at the club.
Chelsea showed the most interest,’ he told Sport Bild. ‘Antonio Conte had already signed me for Juventus.
‘And it was a very good offer this time. I would have been the most expensive Spanish player ever.
‘(But) Real said that they have me in their plans. and that was always a dream of mine.’
