A standoff has ensued between the Electoral Commission and a total of 1,255 Youth delegates from the central region over money.
The Youth who have convened at Mubende National Teachers College from yesterday to elect the central youth MP are demanding for shs one million as their allowance.
However, according to the EC, each delegate is supposed to receive shs 530,000.
The youth are also contesting a move by the commission to pay them in instalments even for the little money they are providing them with for the three days they have been at the venue.
Much as voting started at 10am, majority of the delegates are yet to vote insisting that they must be paid before they can go out to vote for their candidates.
Chris Namanya, an electoral commission official says some of the youth had collected their money and it’s just a few who have prompted others to join in the protest.
The central youth Mp race has attracted seven candidates with the closest competition between NRM’s Agnes Kirabo and Independent Ivan Bwowe.
Others are;Independents Abdul Ziritwawula, Michael Katongole, Simon Ssenyonga and Alvin Ssemambya FDCs Javiira Kasumba.
