Fast tracking electoral reforms in Uganda ahead of the 2016 polls is key to a democratic and peaceful process.
The Citizens Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU) wants the Electoral Commission to push for these reforms to create a conducive and credible process.
CCEDU, in its report on the Kenya elections released today, highlights the peaceful electoral process in the neighboring country, majorly brought on by major voter and civic education.
CCEDU project coordinator Gwada Ogot says with Uganda’s polls only 3 years away, it is pertinent to press Parliament to pass reforms that benefits the democratic transitions.
The coalition also urges the Electoral Commission to adopt a legal code of conduct for political parties to ensure streamlining and regulation of their activities especially during the electoral process.
