Independent candidate Prof Venansious Baryamureba has expressed worry that the ongoing presidential campaigns are likely to slow down the national economy.

The first progress report by the Alliance for Campaign Finance Monitoring released early this month indicated that many people have abandoned their routine economic activities to wait for money or gifts dished out by politicians at consultative meetings and campaign rallies.

The other presidential candidates too continue traversing different parts of the country with Independent Retired Maj Gen Benon Biraro expected to address rallies in the Eastern districts of Sironko, Bulambuli and Mbale.
Dr Abedi Bwanika will be in Jinja town, independents Joseph Mabirizi and Kyalya Walube will be taking their joint campaigns to Luuka and Namutumba districts.
