The governments of Uganda and China have today signed a 15 million dollar projects on customs modernization, and Uganda Roads and Railway Polytechnic feasibility study project.
While signing the agreement at ministry of finance headquarters today minister of finance Mathias Kasaija says the customs modernization project will improve performance, efficiency and ultimately increase tax revenue collection.
He says that the customs points will be installed with modernized systems like efficient advanced technologies such as X-ray and CT scanners, as well as a centralized management system with ICT technology to address bottlenecks which may arise.
Meanwhile he added that the Uganda Roads and Railway polytechnic feasibility project to be located in Tororo district will be a turnkey project for the country.
