Buganda kingdom Premier Charles Peter Mayiga, has added voice to those asking the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) to first strengthen its public education function before introducing or implementing new tax policies.
Mayiga was earlier today addressing the 31st Buganda Lukiiko presided over the Speaker Patrick Luwaga at Bulange Mengo.
He also asked the government to more intently investigate the numerous corruptions allegation made against some of the agency’s officials as a way of restoring public confidence in the institution.
Mayiga also emphasized the need for entrepreneurs to formalize their businesses and maximize use of social media for market development and growth.
This comes as traders and arcade owners meet at Kololo independence grounds to harmonize issues to be present to the president during their scheduled meeting over various grievances that earlier led to a strike, at the same venue tomorrow.
Meanwhile, today’s sitting has also seen the new Buganda Lukiiko members sworn-in.
Some of the sworn members include Matovu Vicent, Deo Kajimu, Sarah Nannono, Robert Sonko, and others.
