Bournemouth have signed Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga on a season-long loan deal, both Premier League clubs said on Thursday.
Kepa, 29, who had entered the final year of his contract, also extended his deal with Chelsea until 2026, ensuring that he does not leave the club for no transfer fee at the end of his loan to Bournemouth.
The Spain international was loaned to Real Madrid last season, where he made 20 appearances, stepping in for the injured Thibaut Courtois and helping the team win La Liga and the Champions League.
Kepa joined Chelsea in August 2018 for 71 million pounds ($93.61 million), making him the world’s most expensive goalkeeper. He won the Europa League with Chelsea in 2019, the Champions League two years later, and the Club World Cup in 2022.
